Medium: Photography Artist’s statement: The Puyallup people call Mount Rainier “Tahoma,” translating to “Mother of Waters.” The ecosystem works in tandem, and given some thought, it’s clear the human anatomy is not apart from this rhythm, but a reflection of it instead. Lungs branch like trees, blood moves like rivers do, our senses and motions travel up and down like sloping mountains. We are made of water, minerals and stardust — the very elements that shaped oceans and vast forests. How wondrous, then, that the earth remembers itself in us — bones, breath and blood.
